This year marks the 61st Independence Day for Pakistan . It gives us immense pleasure to say that once again this year several community organizations, representing Pakistani American community in Southern California, have proudly come together to celebrate the  61st Independence Day of Pakistan under one united platform, “United for Pakistan Independence Day 2008”

With well over 15,000 anticipated to be in attendance, Pakistan Independence Day is one of the largest events in Los Angeles for people of South Asian descent. This year 61st Independence Day of Pakistan will be celebrated across Los Angeles on Saturday, August 9, 2008 .  The event will be held at the Exposition Park in Los Angeles . 
Pakistan Independence Day is primarily organized to share and demonstrate the rich Pakistani cultural heritage to our American friends and members of other communities in Southern California . The United for Pakistan Independence Day Executive committee plans to bring the whole community together by promoting cultural diversity and encouraging participation of different communities.    

This year, 61st Independence Day festivity will include over fifty local businesses showcasing their merchandise and services to the public.  In addition to Pakistani arts, handicrafts, costume jewellery, traditional Pakistani dresses, and fashion wear there will be a free live concert through out the evening with top name singers from Pakistan . In addition to performances by renowned artists from Pakistan , the event will also include young local musicians. Of course, there will be plenty of delicious food stalls including fast food to cater to the taste of people of all ages. In a nutshell, UFPID will present a spectacular day filled with fun and entertainment and take the festival to its new heights.

Abrar ul Haq and Josh will Perform live in PakdayLA 2008

   
 

City of Angeles , will now have the opportunity to see their favorite Pakistani stars - Abrar ul Haq along with Josh Band  at the 61st Pakistan Independence Show organized by UFPID 2008. The event is set to take place on Saturday, August 9th at Exposition   Park , in Los Angeles , California .

Abrar , Pakistan 's hottest Singer, whose hit song, "Bilo Dey Ghar", is all set to rock evening of 9th August with a spellbinding performance, He is a Pop star with a celebrity status. On numerous occasions, he was voted the most popular singer of Pakistan . One of the most recognizable faces in Pakistan and abroad, with a huge fan following. This is for the first time Abrar-Ul- Haq is performing live for PakdayLA.   

Abrar ul Haq is an explosive pop bhangra and folk artist and one of Pakistan 's greatest assets in the modern age of music. His every album has chart topping numbers. From "Billo Day Ghar" to "Majajni", "Bay Ja Cycle Tay" to "Punjabi Touch", every one of his songs has touched hearts of millions.  All albums released so far have been a mega success and been acclaimed both nationally and internationally.

Folk star Tariq Tafu will dazzle the audience with his rendition of the track he composed, "Lahore Lahore Ay " also from the bangra hits in past years.  


Also performing will be Pakistani new talent, Mujahid Khan from UK , Versatile evergreen singer Arshad Ali & the talented nasal band. 
 
In addition, this year's hottest  PSA performers are all set to perform at the Pakistan Day Independence Mela, -from USC , UCI , UCLA, & UCR .


The festival is scheduled to begin at 3PM to midnight , music, food, Arts, crafts, and amusements will make this a fun-filled event for families. There will be a traditional "mela" (bazaar) with food and vendors.Like always, the admission to this exciting and dignified family event is free. You are cordially invited to please join us with you family and friends in celebrating the Independence Day of Pakistan in a manner befitting our great nation!
