It is with great pleasure that I extend my warmest regards to those gathered to celebrate the Pakistani Independence Day held on Saturday August 11, 2007 at Exposition Park, Los Angeles, CA. The success of this event required a significant commitment on the part of many people, and I commend all those who have worked extremely hard to make this possible. I would like to especially recognize Javed Bhai, Ismail Bhai, and Yusuf Bhai for their hard work and diligence.
I know this event will remain in the hearts and minds of all who attended. As we commemorate this milestone event, let’s strive to make an already fantastic event even better next year.
Thank you.
Abdullah Jamil

The Pakistan Independence Day was a great success. It was well organized and totally AMAZING!!!! A special thanks to YKKB and Ismail Keekeebhai from the bottom of my heart for blindly trusting me in several aspects of my work for this event. I will cherish and be grateful for their upmost kind gesture towards me. You are truly great people YKKB and Ismail. Thanks.

I agree with Ikram, this is a FREE event and an opportunity to show pride as Pakistani Americans. This is a great event that is family oriented- so everyone can take part in Pakistan Day. A lot people really worked hard- it is easy for one to make comments but THINK about the people that given up their time and effort for people like us to enjoy this day.

Folks this is a free event. It will cost you nothing. The only thing that you may have to pay is the parking fee, which goes to the city of Los Angeles. Remember we (the UFPID)are holding this mela for the community free of charge. Its not a concert where you have to pay upwards of $50 or so to come watch your favorite heartthrobs :)
@keech and sadia: I can understand the confusion because another org is holding the mela on the Friday the 10th and the flyers you mention are theirs.
Our mela is on 11th and we didnt promise any such artists in any of our flyers or ads in the print media, this website or any TV commercial. We did not promise abrar or atif or ali zafar. We got a confirmation from Alamgir, Ali Haider and Najam Sheraz and thats what we are advertising on this website and in commercials, so at least there should be no confusion there.
I can also tell you with assurity that Abrar, Jawad Ahmed, Atif Aslam, Ali Zafar will not be performing at the independence day events - Neither on 10th nor on 11th.
Reagarding Ali Zafar and his US tour, im not familiar with dates and venues, but im sure it will NOT be a free concert if it ever happens in LA.
You guys should not be disappointed. We didnt do any false advertising here. We promised you Alamgir, Ali Haider and Najam Sheraz and they will be there on Saturday the 11th.
Keep in mind that this is a FREE event. You dont have to purchase anything at the mela. But we do encourage you to come and support a Pakistani event. A lot of people have put in a lot of time, energy and effort in this. All we ask for is your support with your presence there.
See you on the 11th
Thank You!
